Healthy Schools and Snacks

We promote healthy eating and living and have achieved a Healthy Schools Award.

Our children are encouraged to drink water throughout the day. They are given a free bottle on entry to the school and additional bottles can be purchased from the school.

Our KS1 children receive a free piece of fruit every day as part of a Government Healthy eating initiative, we also encourage the children in KS2 to bring in healthy snacks for breaktime.

Please refer to our Food Policy

School Meals

Our cooked meals are made in our brand new kitchen in the Village Hall, they provide a healthy balanced meal for the children. For more information about our school meals provider (NYCC County Caterers) click here

Every day the children are given a choice of 2 main courses and three desserts that are ordered a week in advance.

The cost of school meals is currently £2.30 per day.  We are able to cater for pupils with special dietary needs, we ask parents to contact school and we can arrange a consultation with the cooks. Full allergen information about all the meals is available on request.

We also regularly invite parents in to join us for lunch an adult meal costs £2.76, letters are sent out advising parents about these days throughout the year.

Some families prefer their child to have a packed lunch so we try to help you plan a fantastic lunchbox which your child will enjoy and is healthy, fizzy drinks, sweets and chocolate bars are not allowed.
Here are some good websites that give good advice on what to put in a healthy lunchbox:

Also, packing a waste free lunch box could save you a LOT of money.  This website is American but the ideas work on this side of the Atlantic as well:
