E Safety Information for Parents

We have recently carried out E-safety training for Parents and a talk in school for the children, details can be found for hints and tips to make using the internet safer at this website:

Children and Staff at North Stainley Primary School are able to access the Internet through the North Yorkshire County Council Learning Net.

The safety of children when using the Internet is of paramount importance to our school and to North Yorkshire County Council.

We encourage the children to follow the S.M.A.R.T. Rules when using the internet both at home and at school.

Keep safe by being careful not to give out personal information – such as your name, email, phone number, home address, or school name – to people who you don’t trust online.

Meeting somebody you have only been in touch with online can be dangerous. Only do so
with your parents’ or carers’ permission and even then ONLY when they are present.

Accepting emails, instant messages or texts from people you don't know or trust can lead to
problems—they may contain viruses or nasty messages!

Someone online may be lying about who they are, and information you find on the internet may not be reliable.

Tell your parent, carer or a trusted adult if someone or something makes you feel uncomfortable or worried.

We have a number of policies in school for the use of ICT and the internet;

ICT policy

E safety Policy

Internet Policy

Website accessibility

Website Privacy Statement

Use of Images policy

Acceptable Use

We would also like to help parents ensure that their children stay safe when using the internet at home and elsewhere. There are many websites that offer advice to parents on the topic of ‘keeping your child safe online’ there are some links below;
