About our school

Our School

North Stainley C of E school is a Primary School for children aged 4 -11 years of age. We are a friendly village school supported by a welcoming community.

We are located in the original school building dating from 1871. There are 3 classrooms albeit one of them is very small.

There is a recently updated playground, free standing modular building equipment undercover and a school garden for quiet play activities; this is maintained by the children as part of a gardening club. We also have access to the Village Hall which is used for KS2 lessons, break time, sport, assemblies and school lunch.

Our Christian Values

As a church school with a distinctive Christian ethos our Christian values permeate everything we do. We believe strongly in upholding the Christian values that are central to our school lives and as such these are one of our curriculum drivers which make our school distinctive and different.

Mission Statement

Within a safe, secure and caring Christian environment we seek to teach children to enjoy life and learning, to have enquiring minds and to be resilient in their approach to challenge. We aim to equip our children with the skills and attitudes required to prosper in a changing society and to be the best that they can be. In this school pupils of different backgrounds are valued.

Our Vision

Our vision is to support our children on their learning journey to become:
  • Lifelong self motivated learners with individual interests
  • Capable communicators who can express themselves clearly and listen to others carefully.
  • Confident in themselves and their values, with high self esteem and self respect.
  • Happy and resilient
  • Creative thinkers.
  • Productive citizens who have developed understanding and respect for others and who actively take responsibility for their world.
  • Healthy and physically active.

Our Learning Culture

Our teaching reflects our belief that children need to be engaged in their learning, understand how to improve their work and know their learning goals.

In order for our children to maximise their learning opportunities, it is crucial that they adopt a focussed learning approach:
  • Effective listening
  • Focussed concentration
  • Motivation to learn
  • Positive, active approach to learning
  • Punctual
  • Good attendance
We have high expectations and we expect all children to work to the very best of their ability.
