Thursday 14th January
Purple Ribbon has been cancelled for today and rescheduled hopfully for tomorrow at 11:30am. Go and enjoy the snow once you've done your writing!
Short little virtual sessions today guys as I am at home and all my resources are in school! So will do my best and then make it short as the quicker you do the work; the quicker you can enjoy the snow while it's here!
Last day of virtual teaching then I will be setting work online for Friday- so work can be completed on your own time scale (rather than fitting around teams meetings!) and then uploaded onto the website- which lots of you have already worked out and have been doing already which is great!
I am aware lots of you haven't got access to a printer, and at this age we often use sheets because the children haven't the speed nor skills to present and lay out their work themselves. So if it helps to suggest this:- Get the sheet up on the screen to look at and work from visually and then write the answers in their book- ie. the sheet may have images of butterflies and ask how many there are, in your work book provided in the packs you can just write 1. 13 2. xx 3. xx etc.
Reception
Phonics:
As always, start by going through your speed sounds and making some words! For those of you getting really good at making CVC words, why not play a game of charades with your adult- one of you acts out a word (pig, hat, dog, rat...) and the other person has to guess what it is and make the word using the sound cards! If the adult amkes the word, the child has to 'mark' it using Freddy Fingers to decode and spell it out to check!
Back to RWi: Re-read the story; check your green and red words prior and this will help you to start and recognise these in the story. This time when you read the story, try to be more independent (the child)- (this might still be letter recognition independently and aided freddy fingers), encouraging freddy fingers and blending of the words, and recognition of the red words. -Red ditty book 2 Got Him-V316199130.pdf-
Then todays task is : Hold a Sentence, with a focus on finger spaces!- If they find this hard, using alolly pop stick etc can help them to put the space at the end of each word. You can print out the below image or just write it into your lined book.
THE SENTENCE IS: in the car got him (Sorry, just realised I forgot to write this part on, 10:25am.)
For hold a sentence, the adult says the sentence a few times and the idea is the child needs to internalise the words in the correct order to then reproduce them in writing. The adult says the sentence, and then the child says the sentence in different voices (robot, high pitched, baby etc..) to help them consolidate the sentence and its word order. Once they seem to have got it, they independently write out the sentence applying their writing skills. You can prompt them if and where needed etc!
Maths:
Rewatch the numberblocks video. Did you learn anything new? You can add this to your mind map! Discuss any key principles or misunderstandings.
Today would be our formation and 'written' work day if we were in school! So I would love for you to practise writing your number 6!
All of our numbers start at the top and for 6 we say "down, round and in"!
Have a look at this sheet below to work through!
-6 formation sheet.pdf-
-6 formation and do sheet.pdf-
Can you work out different ways of making 6? such as 1 and 5, 3 and 3... You could find 6 objects to help you split them in different ways!
Writing:
We will be doing all about rhyming today on Teams! This will link with the rhyming story and the rhyming sea shanty in Tuesday's story! Can you hear which words rhyme in the sea shanty?
Then below is a matching game to play! The writing part is writing some of the rhyming pairs (nap and map) into your red lined books. Remember to use Freddy Fingers and keep saying the words to try and hear the different sounds!
