Road Safety
Here at North Stianley we are very aware of the fact we are next to a busy road that we cross daily. Annually in PSHE, children in Class One undertake a Road Safety session.
This means learning in the calssroom all about the dangers of the road, what we need to look out for, what actions we need to do when approaching a road and how we ensure we are safe.
Once the children show a good understanding of the Green Cross Code and our rule "STOP, LOOK, LISTEN", we go out into the village and put our new/embedded knowledge into practise by applying what we have learned to successfully cross the road.
All the children at North Stianley School know that the safest way to cross the road is by using the crossing; pressing the button, waiting for the traffic to stop, looking and listening and then crossing sensibly.
Further to this, the whole school had a visitor in school called Lauren Doherty. She came to talk to the children about road safety and how important it is to be sensible near the road. She then helped to hand out our Road Safety certificates. Well Done to all the children, they represented the school beautifully and showed how important road safety was to them.
