Class One Learning WC/ 24th June

We have managed to fit so much in this week and had so much fun learning and competing with our friends!

On Tuesday we had forest schools with Miss. Macarthur! We lit a fire, and used tools such as peelers and knives to wittle our own sticks to use for roasting mashmallows on! We also had bread to make toast and relaxed with a hot chocolate made over the open fire! 🔥🍢

On Wednesday we had sports day! We got dressed up in our team colours and settled in under the shade of the trees to cheer on our teams! First was field events where we took part in 6 different activities as a team (
clover, snapdragon, poppy, sunflowers); accuracy with hoop and bean bag toss, distance with the rocket javelins, egg and spoon relay, baton relay, long jump and speed bounce jumping over the cone markers! Once this was complete, we had the track events! We raced in our year groups against each other for our teams! This included long distance, novelty and sprint! After a wonderful afternoon and finished with an ice lolly... CLOVER where this years sports day winners! It was lovely to see all the children taking part and supporting one another, and the amount of parents who turned out for a good afternoon- to have good weather was just a bonus! 🌞

Also this week we have been checking on the development of our broad beans that we planted as a hydroponics experiment in Science! The children were delighted to see how many more roots theys beans had grown as well as tall stems and leaves waiting to open! They made some great predicitons about how they will look next week in their bean diaries! We all examined the progress of the beans planted by EYFS- they were amazed by the beans that had no light and no water! 🌱

In maths, EYFS have been looking at take away and how many have been taken away as the missing number, Year One are exploring money and Year Two are doing some statistics, starting with tallies! ➖🪙📊

We have been working hard on identifying and recognising our tricky words (formly red words)! We had great fun playing word splat and then a secret mission with some tricky word writting! Year Two continue to love reading George's Marvellouos medicine with just three chapters left to read and analyse! 📔

Have a lovely weekend 😊
