Trip to the Toy Museum!

22 Feb 2023

Our History topic this term is looking at how toys have changed over time. In order to fully engage the children we started our topic off with a trip out to Ilkley Toy Museum to look first hand at some primary resources!

The children got to explore the museum, looking at a range of different toys; from teddies and dolls, to toys made from tin to a range of miniture dolls houses and shops! The children went on a scavenger hunt, got to see lots of the artifacts working including a fairground, a horny train, a zoetrope and jacobs ladder, and then got to handle some of the old toys and explore those for themselves!

We had a great day out and are ready to apply what we learnt to our History learning! Have a look below at the slide show to see what we got up to- even Bobby Bear came to learn about his ancestors!
