Class One Learning WC/ 17th June

The sun finally made an appearance this week, just in time for the official start of Summer on Friday following the Summer Solitice.

We have had a busy week in class with KS1 completing assessments and all getting ready to learn some new sounds from our new phonics scheme!

In Science, we have all been checking on our bean growing experiments! Some of Key Stage One's beans have now got really deep roots and have a stem growing- we predicted that by next week we should have some leaves! EYFS checked on their beans they put in various different locations and discussed what had (or hadn't) happened and why! Key Stage One then used junk modelling equipment and some instructions to build a model of their bean plant while EYFS did some beautiful writing about their beans!

In PSHE we explored all about sun safety and why it is important to look after our skin when out in the sunshine! The children now understand why we wear suncream and sunhats and drink plenty when the weather is hot!

We have done lots of activities outside too whilst talking about Summer and how we wouldn't want to play outside in a water tray or on our bikes in the Winter, discussing why!

In PE the children have also been preparing for Sports Day which they are very excited for on Wednesday 26th June!
