Class One Learning WC/ 1st July

I say this every year, but how did July come around so fast?! We have had a brilliant week again this week, even with the disappointment of a cancelled school trip due to high winds!

In Maths, EYFS have been looking at choosing the right shape for the right job and naming them with some of their properties! Year One have continued to work with money, comparing amounts in coins and notes, and Year 2 continue with their statistics work- this week looking at block graphs and pictograms. You may see in the pictures below that they set up their own pictograms, collected their data with a key, and then set it up for a block graph on their axis'.

We are all working on our handwriting, and our sentences structuring in English! KS1 have been looking at news paper reports and identifying the different features found in newspapers, and a newspaper article.

On Thursday, we had a lovely day planned out for the children to go to the Himalayan Gardens and Sculpture Park. Unfortunately it had to be cancelled due to high wind speeds presenting safety issues (Miss. Gregory is seeing if we can reschedule in the next two, very busy weeks!). So instead Plan B involved a walk around the village looking for all the signs of the Summer season- some geese were rather interested in saying good morning! We then went to the park to play with our friends (and Bobby and Billy of course!) before heading for a picnic on the rec! In the afternoon we all snuggled in with cushions, blankets and teddies to watch a film. Following a democracy to make voting fair, the highest vote went to Dispicable Me 2! We had wotsits, marshmallows and pink panther biscuits as a treat from Mrs. Stelling aswell- Thank You!

School have also been very kindly donated someone's raffle prizes; two lovely, colourful bird boxes to put up in the garen area! The Reception children enjoyed helping Mrs. Macarthur attach them to the fence and we can't wait to see some life move in! Thank You Mrs. Jones!

Have a lovely, resful weekend all! I can't wait to see what next week will bring!
Miss. Gregory x
