Class One Learning WC/ 18th November
Another week of learning and fun in Class One!
Reception have been learning about circles and triangles this week in maths; printing, spotting them in the environment, thinking about how many sides and corners and then talking about position vocabulary! Year One are now adding and subtracting within 20 having finished off within 10, and Year Two have been embedding their addition and subtraction methods for not crossing a ten and crossing a ten- which was a little tricky!
In English we have been looking at traditional tales and what the common features are. We talked about good charcters and bad characters and how all traditional tales have a problem and a lesson to learn!
We had World Religion Afternoon on Wednesday, with this years world religion being Sikhism. The children learnt all about where Sikhism originated from, what beliefs the Sikh's have and the 5k's, and that there were 10 guru's - who are teachers of the faith- who have shaped sikhism into what it is today! We look forward to carrying on with our Sikhism journey in the new year.
We have had policestation building with the wooden blocks, den building inside as well as a lovely snuggly storytime to start our Friday this week!
Phonics is one of our favourite lessons and it shows with all the amazing progress happening: Reception even finished learning all their phase 2 sounds this week, with Year One moving onto phase 4 books and Year 2 doing fantastic with their AR reading and the quizzes, and the Little Wandle spelling Programme!
Have a lovely weekend, ready for DT week next week!
