North Stainley Church News

Dear All
Have you seen all the beautiful snowdrops in the churchyard – they seem better than ever this year! The little crocuses are also beginning to flower (if not too squashed by today’s snowfall) and there are even some primulas in flower!
We have a had a busy week with 24 pupils from NS school attending our church run after-school club
(JAM) on Monday and Class 1 visiting church on Tuesday as part of their RE curriculum – they had fun exploring and discovering what is in a church and why the church building is important to Christians.
It is
Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent next week. There will be services in West Tanfield Church (9am) and at Masham Church (10am) and then the chance to meet together to reflect on the themes of Lent at various times in the week. See the pew sheet or mashamparishes.org for further details.
Next Wednesday is also Valentine’s Day and the
Staveley Arms have a special menu next week…. as well as regular events like Wednesday Quiz Night (8.30 start) – who will beat the current winning team next week…? They are supporting our school as their charity this year.
Bacon Church is coming up next Thursday – 15
th February at 8.45 till about 9.30. Do pop into church for your breakfast buttie! Eat- drink- chat- pray!
On Sunday 18
th February Rev Jane will lead our 9.15
Parish Eucharist service.
On Saturday 24
th Feb we are having a
“Coffee and Cake” morning in the Village Hall from 10 till 12. A chance to meet friends over a coffee (or tea or hot chocolate) and eat all sorts of delicious cakes! All welcome please tell you friends and neighbours and encourage them to come along too!
Thank you to all those who continue to collect
used printer cartridges for us – we have now raised almost £300 in the 21 months we have been running the scheme. If you are spring cleaning and find a pile of used printer cartridges, please pop them in the box in the back of church or through my front door. Or bring them with you to the Coffee and cake morning!
Sometimes we are also given
unused printer cartridges when people change their printers.
We cannot guarantee these cartridges, but they
appear to be unopened and unused — we offer them to you for a donation to church funds. There will be a stall at the Coffee and Cake morning. Why not come and see if we have any cartridges which will fit your printer? Amongst others, we have Brother LC 3219XL, Canon 520, 521, Epson 18 assorted colours, HP 301, 364 photo, Epson T0714/T2991 (assorted colours). Alternatively contact me to see what we have available.
I know that Scilla and her family are very grateful for the letters, cards and support they have received and for donations made to St Mary’s and the Air Ambulance in memory of Brian. We miss him!
Best wishes
Jane
