Sports: Policy
11 Oct 2024
Please read the following information regarding the school's policy for jewellery and sport:
Essentially our policy, in line with national guidance and that of North Yorkshire Educational Services, is that jewellery should be removed when taking part in PE lessons and physical activity. Earrings should not be taped.
If earrings can't be removed, where possible, the activity will be modified for those children so they can participate safely and not in close contact with others. If it can't be adapted, children will take on a different role within the lesson e.g. official, coach etc.
Please could I ask you to read through the full policy and if you have any questions please just ask.
If you wish to allow children to wear earrings with tape during their Sporting Influence PE lessons, please can I ask you to confirm this in writing (via email). As it goes against our policy and guidance, schools would take responsibility/ownership for this.
Sporting Influence Competitions
Our clothing and jewellery policy also applies to our Interschool competitions. As the competitions are run by Sporting Influence out of curriculum time, all jewellery should be removed. Even if schools give permission, as the wearing of them could cause injury to others and children from other schools, earrings need to be taken out. Children will not be able to take part if they are not removed.
